Aaryn and her husband were expecting their first baby and wanted to capture one of the most exciting moments. They wanted to make the gender reveal an intimate experience between the two of them (well and me, too, lol!). I was a little nervous to be sure I got it right- I checked the doctor’s note in the envelope and checked to be sure I gave them the right color multiple times, lol! Their gender reveal photoshoot at 15 weeks turned out perfectly. It was so exciting to be there to experience it with them and see their reactions.
We decided on the ‘Costco Field‘ because Aaryn loved the open field idea without having too many distractions in the background.

how we wonder
what you are
What is something that dad has done for mom during the pregnancy? He gets me dairy queen whenever I crave it!
What have been your favorite things to do while pregnant? Have you had any pregnancy cravings? It’s our first so seeing how much the baby has grown at each sonogram has been so cool! And the baby kicks – those are wild. No weird cravings, my sweet tooth has just heightened.
Do you have a name picked out yet? What is it? (If you don’t mind sharing.) How/why did you choose this name? We have ideas but nothing set yet. Once we decide it’ll be something we keep to ourselves till baby arrives!
What kind of look were you going for in your photos? We really just wanted to make sure we captured the surprise of the gender reveal, which we did!
Tell me about the outfits you wore to the shoot. My dress was from Shein, and Kevin’s shirt was from 5-11 (something we already had in our closet). We wanted to be more dressy but still casual and comfortable.
How was your experience during your session? Amazing! We were a bit picky about where we did the session, so your patience was much appreciated!
Is there anything you were self-conscious about going into the session? If so, what? We ended up picking a location that was right on the side of a busy road so I was a bit self-conscious of people staring as they drove by. Someone even honked at us! But after the reveal, we were just too excited to care.
Did you bring any props/sentimental items? Yes! We had the smoke cannons that revealed the gender.
Tell me about your favorite parts of our session, or why you enjoyed the session. We just enjoyed the moment of learning the gender and being able to capture it.
What are some words of wisdom you would give to other expecting mothers for their session? I keep telling Kevin that I’m a whale, hippo, or balloon (jokingly, but also not really). Just remember that you are growing a tiny human and that is the most beautiful thing!
