We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival.

I have learned WAY too many times recently of someone battling cancer. Besides a friend near & dear to me, whom I am HAPPY to say is a SURVIVOR, there is a local 12 year old girl that is battling stage 4 ovarian cancer and now a fellow photographer. I originally heard about her yesterday through another photographer friend, Melissa of Contemporary Captures. Then today there have been MANY posts about ways to help. Jen Burgess Thompson is a photographer in Oregon. More importantly, she is a 37-year old mom of 2 boys. She has advanced ovarian cancer and has bravely endured major surgery and months of brutal chemotherapy. Her doctors have given Jen 12-18 months, but there’s hope: They want her to enter a clinical trial at the Mayo Clinic. The estimated price tag is $63,000.

You can read more about Jen’s journey here and watch this touching video about her.
With my 37th birthday approaching, and having 2 boys, I cannot help but think ‘what if I was in her shoes’. I CANNOT fathom the idea of my boys growing up without me. I want Jen’s boys, Cooper and Cohen to grow up with their Mom.
Jen is in the fight of her life and I think we should fight for her. Every little bit counts and can help make a difference… whether it be $1, $5, $10 or more, it can help save Jen’s life.

Keep an eye out on info on how to help the local little 12yo girl- I’m thinking of a way I can help her too. WAY too young to have to be dealing with anything like this!!!
